Our client is a renewable energy organisation that is undergoing rapid growth.It aims to help facilitate the energy transition demands of the UK and EU by developing and investing into large-scale solar and battery storage projects.
The team comprises individualswith a proven track record in infrastructure investment, renewables spheres and innovation.
As Legal Counsel for the business you'll be accountable for ensuring the delivery of high quality, efficient and value-adding legal services in a fast-paced and ambitious growth environment, domestically in the UK and with potential for internationally withfuture growth and expansion.
We are seeking a credible and experienced senior legal expert with an excellent understanding of the renewables business and energy sector and the key role the in-house legal team will play in the successful delivery of company growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Growing, developing, and managing all legal aspects of a multidisciplined team comprising land, consenting, commercial and construction to deliver the legal services required by the business to meet both strategic and financial objectives.
- Collectively, you'll advise the business on applicable legal and regulatory obligations, identify, and rationalise legal risk and ensure legal input to the internal governance and compliance processes.
- Implementing initiatives and processes to set standards and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, responsibility, and ethical behaviour.
- Leading the legal workstreams to integrate new businesses and assets into the business.
- Leading the delivery of legal services to and the management of our investment partners.
- Working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and colleagues including directors heads of department, investors and a range of internal and external specialist functions in the delivery of your role.
- Managing external legal advisors (panel law firms and advocates) as appropriate, including appointments, management of service delivery and fees.
Skills and Qualifications
- A qualified solicitor or barrister, with CV proven PQE coupled with a solid track record of producing high quality and effective legal advice.
- Experience of renewable development lifecycle and associated legal risks, management and objectives.
- Good commercial acumen, with proven ability to carry out commercial negotiations to fulfil objectives and agree high value complex deals.
- Ability to build, develop and nurture effective business partnering relationships based on trust, integrity and the delivery of a valueadding legal service, both personally and through your team.
- Strong people management skills, with experience operating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Highly organised, deliveryfocussed and solutionsdriven with the ability to comprise and propose imaginative and appropriate solutions and implement innovative business improvements.
