About the role
Cambridgeshire are entering an exciting period in relation to the delivery of transport. We have a new strategy that is seeking to evolve and challenge the way our transport services are delivered.

We are working closely with providers and families to make sure our transport from home to school and our transport offer for vulnerable adults is the best it can be.


Transport is one of the key priorities for the Education Directorate, and there has been significant investment in the creation of a new service dedicated to delivering outstanding transport services.

It is the perfect time to join the new team as they embark on a new chapter.


The Transport Engagement Officer reports directly to the Policy and Strategy Manager and is a key role in the delivery of our engagement strategy within the Passenger Transport Team.

The role will be based at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald with hybrid home/office arrangements.

Interviews will be held at New Shire Hall on 21 June 2023

What will you be doing?

The key aim of this role will be to engage with stakeholders to implement systems and structures to promote efficient passenger transport usage.

The Passenger Transport Engagement Officer will work closely with our Special Educational Needs Team and Social Care teams to ensure that Transport needs are included in everyone's thinking.

This role will involve interacting with parents and schools as well as different teams across the Children's Services department.


This is a fantastic opportunity to gain key experience in working in a children's services context whilst actively working to improve outcomes for children and young people.

About you

You will be a highly diligent and organised, with a real passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

You will have the ability to develop relationships with a number of stakeholder groups.

You may have a keen interest in working with children and young people with SEND or be starting your career in this sector.

Equally you may have significant experience in a customer focused environment and bring with you the benefit of that experience.

Either way you will have excellent relational skills and will understand the importance of providing support to those around you to ensure a high-quality service is delivered.
