    A new opportunity has arisen for an Lead Engineer with an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation bias to join our team in Widnes.

    Reporting to the Technical Manager, the EC&I Lead Engineer is responsible for Maintenance and Engineering standards across Electrical and Instrumentation technologies deployed on the Widnes manufacturing site.

    The role is the Responsible Site Engineer for HV & LV Electrical distribution and sub-distribution, Process Instrumentation, Lighting, Earthing and Lightning Protection, and infrastructure systems.

    The main responsibilities are to define the inspection, maintenance, and asset management strategies, ensuring these activities are suitable and sufficient to enhance reliability, compliance, and process & occupational safety performance.

    Delivering these site and corporate targets will involve partnering with departmental, site, corporate and contract partners as appropriate.

    Additionally, the EC&I Lead Engineer will control assigned projects and maintenance contracts within budgeted performance and in accordance with agreed plans.

    Ensure legal compliance through the development, management and implementation of Preventative Maintenance Plans
    Responsible for the execution of all required statutory electrical equipment inspections, reporting and close out of remedial actions in a timely manner
    Manage performance of key EC&I contractors, ensure all work is done to appropriate standards and specifications, and drive compliance to Safe Systems of Work through robust risk assessment and effective control measures
    Support the Technical Manager to ensure the electrical systems integrity of the plant is consistent with corporate, and UK legislation and standards
    Support the Technical Manager & project teams in identification, definition, and as appropriate management of capital projects in own area of expertise within scope, budget, and timeline
    Support the Technical Manager in development & delivery of the Electrical Systems infrastructure management plan – encompassing ageing plant, obsolescence management, and inspection & maintenance strategy
    Contribute to maintenance and shutdown planning process for routine, critical & turnaround tasks
    Management of applicable service contracts, controlling service quality and costs
    Lead investigations into electrical equipment failures and implement robust solutions in partnership with peer subject matter experts
    Develop and manage all stages of Continuous Improvement projects within area of responsibility
    Maintain the site knowledge base in electrical systems
    Maintain and continuously improve the Site Electrical Standards and electrical equipment specifications & drawings through partnerships with key providers

    Qualifications:
    Must possess a recognised Electrical Engineering qualification to Degree Level or alternative routes such as a recognised apprenticeship plus relevant experience demonstrating suitably qualified and experienced status
    Detailed knowledge of the UK legislative framework for Electrical Systems and relevant technical & SHE standards:
    Experience and knowledge of Risk Assessment, COSHH and permit to work processes is essential
    NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is desirable
    Knowledge of maintaining and inspecting High Voltage switchgear, and distribution networks, and / or experience of working closely with HV contract partners
    Experience of ageing electrical plant and management of obsolescence
    Experience of working on an upper tier COMAH site is preferred (good knowledge of risk management is essential)
    Skills in troubleshooting PLC based control systems is an advantage
    Experience in leading the EC&I elements of small and medium-sized capital projects
    Experience in chemical plant reliability and plant maintenance best practices
    Experienced user of MS office, & CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System). Experience of SAP (Statutory Accounting Principles) S4-Hanna Asset Management an advantage
    Experience of management of Engineering and Technical specifications and drawings and conversant with industry-standard applications (AutoCAD, Terrington)
