Description

Locum Doctor Booking Service Action all internal requests for temporary medical cover, in the first instance sourcing doctors registered on the locum bank.

If no bank doctor available circulate requirement to framework agencies Ensure through effective relationship building and partnership working with agencies, source quality locum doctors at the lowest possible rate, ideally within NHS Improvement Wage and Rate Caps.

Manage agencies in accordance with the key performance indicators specified in the Service Level agreement, ensuring bi-monthly face to face meetings with Tier One agencies Ensure all doctors are fully compliant with the Trusts Locum Doctor Compliance Policy and full auditable records are maintained.

Responsible for ensuring that all doctors and agencies fees are accurately and correctly paid, by ensuring all booking terms and rates confirmed on signed Trust booking forms, timesheets approved in accordance with booking terms and that pay files are checked before being uploaded.

Including breaks being deducted, correct on call rates applied and no travel or accommodation costs are included. Monitor locum doctors actual hours and PAs worked are in accordance with the original signed booking form.

Ensure locum doctor booking system is used for all bookings and all contact details and the system is kept up to date.

Ensure all rate escalation requests are forwarded by the relevant Service for approval before booking is confirmed.

Provide bespoke reports and management information as required. Ensure full continuity of process takes place out of hours.

Ensure untoward incidents and issues that arise with the locum doctors are brought to the attention of the relevant clinical leads, senior managers and HR, as appropriate, and reported to the doctors agency.

To undertake temporarily, any similar responsibilities for other staff groups depending on colleague workload and absence.


6.2 Develop and maintain a doctor bank booking service Action all internal requests for temporary medical cover, in the first instance sourcing and booking doctors on shifts which are registered on the locum bank.

Maintain an up-to-date register of doctors available and willing to work additional shifts for the Trust.

Proactively develop the doctor bank, through ensuring all rotational doctors are placed on the bank register and organise and arrange other recruitment initiatives Ensure all doctors are fully compliant, on an ongoing basis, with the Trusts Locum Doctor Compliance Policy and full auditable records are maintained.

Also ensuring that all pre-employment forms are completed including setting the doctors up on ESR and payroll.


Ensure the LMS bank and locum doctor booking system is used for all bookings and all contact details and the system is kept up to date.

Provide secondary approval and checking of all timesheets. Provide bespoke reports and management information as required. To undertake temporarily, any similar responsibilities for other staff groups depending on colleague workload and absence.
