Research Associate: Sorbent scale-up and development - Cambridge, United Kingdom - University of Cambridge

    Default job background
    Fixed Term
    Description

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Dr Alexander Forse at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.

This project is funded by an impact acceleration account grant (from UKRI) on the scale-up and commercialization of new adsorbent materials developed in the Forse Group. The primary aim of this project is to advance the scale-up and commercialization of a new class of adsorbent materials with applications in carbon dioxide capture from ambient air. An initial contract of 9 months is offered with the possibility of an extension.

Essential requirement 1: candidates must have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in materials science, chemistry, or chemical engineering. Essential requirement 2: experience with gas sorption experiments. Desired: experience of working with industry partners, experience of scaling up new materials.

The successful candidate will benefit from state-of-the-art laboratory space and equipment at the University of Cambridge. They will join a motivated team of researchers with a progressive set of values (see: ).

We are keen to see as many applications as possible from BAME applicants, women, applicants with diverse gender identities, and other underrepresented groups in the chemical sciences. We encourage good work-life balance, and accommodate flexible working arrangements.

Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the award of the PhD has been confirmed.

The Department holds an Athena SWAN silver award for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine.

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
