    Vacancy for Design & Applications Engineer (Sealing Design)

    Lanson Polymers is a growing specialist Engineering business which requires a Design & Applications Engineer who has a flexible and proactive nature.

    We specialise in Engineering & Sealing Solutions for a range of markets including Formula 1, Motorsport, Oil & Gas, Pumps, Chemical Processing and other Fluid Handling applications.

    Dealing with high performance sealing components, rubber, plastic and composite technology such as O-Rings, Spring Energised Seals, Composite Bearings & Bushes etc. manufactured from the highest quality materials to exacting specifications ensuring long term reliability in the most demanding applications.

    We require a professional and self-motivated individual with the ability to work to tight deadlines to join our team to help us to achieve our growth objectives.

    Job Requirements

    Technical

    Provide technical guidance when interfacing with highly technical external customers. Visit to customer sites to support our Sales Team when required, to ensure that the design and needs of the customer are met on a timely and effective basis.

    Supports the Sales team by providing technical feasibility input on enquiries with engineering support including communication directly with customers and suppliers when required.

    Generates and approves sealing design proposals utilising our extensive design and material expertise to ensure the best application solution for our customer.

    Applications Engineering – design of products for customers using SolidWorks (CAD), whilst dealing with Customers and Suppliers.

    Quality Systems – Knowledge and experience of Quality Systems, familiarity with the Quality Procedures of ISO9010:2015, PPAP, First Article Inspection, Non-Conformances, Quality Audits etc.

    Inspection – support with Goods Inwards Inspection of manufactured parts to ensure conformity.

    Procurement / Suppliers – Work closely with our suppliers to ensure quality of product.

    Requirements / Skills

    Strong understanding of Seals, O-Rings, Bearings in thermoplastic and elastomeric materials a benefit.

    General understanding of applications in Hydraulics, Pumps, Valves, Compressors a benefit.

    Excellent problem-solving skills.

    Experience and comfortable working with customers

    Well organised, self-driven individual, who can prioritise and support the business as required.

    Knowledge of manufacturing and processes in relevant industries.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills of a technical nature.

    IT usage of ERP & CAD systems, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

    Preferred Experience / Qualifications

    Further Education in a Mechanical / Engineering discipline.

    Engineering / Technical apprenticeship.

    Previous experience desirable in a similar field and position.

    Reports to Head of Engineering

    Location

    Permanent Office based position at our facility in South Cerney.

    Benefits / Remuneration

    Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 (Full Time)

    Hours: Full Time:

    Monday to Thursday: 8:30 to 17:00

    Friday: 8:30 to 16:00

    Incl. 30 minutes lunch

    25 days holiday entitlement per annum increasing with years in Service.
