We are looking to recruit a 12-month fixed term, an experienced and motivated Doctor to join our team as a Senior Clinical Fellow in St Stephen's Centre Sexual health and HIV services.


This post is being advertised to fill a vacancy in the genitourinary medicine specialist registrar rota and would provide an excellent insight and grounding in the field of HIV and sexual/reproductive health.


Working flexibly across both services the post holder will ensure that they provide a patient focused service at all times.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills

This post would primarily be based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust acute site.

St Stephen's Centre comprises the Kobler Clinic and John Hunter Clinic for sexual health.

The Kobler Clinic delivers care to over 5000 people living with HIV and offers specialist clinics in HIV/cardiology, HIV/neurology and HIV/hepatitis amongst others.

John Hunter Clinic provides a comprehensive sexual health and contraception service, seeing over 2500 individuals each month.


The post-holder will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections and all aspects of sexual and reproductive health within the main GUM clinic.

They will be expected to be involved in specialist GU clinics and assist in the development of new clinical services.

They will also be supported in carrying out one outpatient HIV clinic weekly.

In addition, they will also be responsible for checking and acting on laboratory results and discussion of these results with senior medical staff as required/appropriate.


The post-holder will be responsible for arranging appropriate onward internal and external patient referrals and correspondence with General Practitioners as relevant.

The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to non-clinical duties e.g., clinic rota co-ordination and managerial responsibilities as delegated.

The doctor shall contribute to the development of the multidisciplinary team by offering support, education and teaching/training where required.


Child and Adult safeguarding are a priority within the directorate, and the post holder will be expected to attend appropriate training and be able to identify cases and refer them to appropriate services.

The Doctor will work within the outpatient Sexual health and HIV teams at St Stephen's centre with no on calls.


They will be under the supervision of seniors, participating in busy sexual health clinics, specialist sexual health services, and HIV clinics.


The post holder will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of services and with other practitioners in the medical contribution to management.

The Directorate of HIV/GUM and Dermatology works closely with a number of other departments including general medicine specialities (e.g. dermatology, neurology, cancer services, liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, gynaecology, children's services, maternity services, urology) and ophthalmology. There is also liaison and joint research with the pathology departments.
