    The engineering department is responsible for maintenance of the Northern Line (NL) which also includes managing overhauls, obsolescence, London Underground projects on the northern line TMS upgrade and Northern Line extension and etc.

    Your future role

    We are hiring a Fleet Project Engineer based at either our Golders Green or Morden Depots, serving London Underground's Northern Line. You'll provide product knowledge and support to operations and the customer on rolling stock systems.

    You'll have responsibility for the performance of a number of systems in order to maintain and improve the safety, reliability and availability of the rolling stock and trackside equipment and to optimise maintenance costs. You'll be reporting into the Maintenance Engineering Lead Engineer and will be working within a diverse team with a good blend of electrical and mechanical engineers

    In addition, you'll have great exposure to other projects and will be working on various activities other than providing maintenance support to operations. You'll be helping with the NL overhaul project, with support given to carry out variation order work from customer London Underground. Obsolescence management will also be key.

    We'll look to you for:

  • Collaborating with Services Engineering and Platforms, to improve the Services portfolio of products and services.
  • Detecting, defining and implementing the modifications of the maintained products to improve the reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems.
  • Analysing the technical performances of the systems and the efficiency of the maintenance plan and processes, promoting action plans to improve them.
  • Searching for improvement actions in maintenance operations, performing engineering interface activities with Operations Engineers (depot support).
  • Optimising the scope and related tasks of the Maintenance plan.

  • Ideally educated to Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering discipline
  • Chartered status or actively working toward chartered status (advantageous)
  • Strong engineering/technical knowledge of rolling stock systems and maintenance policies/practices
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or asset management environment
  • Experience in delivering rail vehicle engineering change, including risk assessments and approvals
  • Knowledge of rail industry legislation and safety case obligations
