- IPEM Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert Certificate of Competence (or achievable within 1 year of starting)
- Clinical Scientist state registration
- Experience of acting as an expert in non-ionising radiation medical physics
- Chartered Scientist
- RPA2000 Laser Protection certificate
- UK driving licence
- Sufficient knowledge and experience to act as a Magnetic Resonance physicist.
- Experience in interpreting different situations and judging measures required to ensure compliance with ionising and/or non-ionising radiation legislation and guidance.
- Specialist experience in the use of specialist testing equipment employed to measure the safety and performance of MRI scanners
- Experience of laser and other non-ionising radiations such as ultrasound.
- Published research/development papers
- Specialist knowledge of non-ionising radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research.
- Sufficient knowledge and experience to act as an expert in a field of non-ionising radiation medical physics.

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced MRI physicist to join our team and take on this new post, leading the MRI work within the Radiation Protection and Radiology Physics Department based near Kingston-upon-Hull in East Riding of Yorkshire.
There are currently four MRI+ physicist posts, including this new one, with hope for more posts in the future as funding allows, together with nine other physicists and technologists in the Department. We currently cover 12 NHS MRI scanners, including a 3T, with 3 additional scanners being installed in the coming year. We are well equipped with ACR and CaliberMRI Essentials System phantoms, and gauss meters. and we share a fully equipped mechanical workshop with the rest of the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Division, which is experienced in custom-making a range of phantoms, jigs, etc. to our specification.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a Medical Physics Magnetic Resonance Imaging Expert, andMagnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE). Under the lead consultant physicist for Radiation Protection and Radiology Physics, they will lead the team providing MRI physics services and R&D within theNHS Humber Health Partnership, which serves Northern Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.
