I am urgently recruiting for one of my Local Authority clients who is seeking an experienced and dynamic interim Assistant Director of Finance (Deputy S151 Officer), for an initial 6-month temporary contract.

Tasked with supporting the Council's development of service vision and strategy, you will have responsibility for providing operational direction and supporting the Director of Resources with the strategic development plans.

Alongside of the planning and implementation of operational direction, you will be required to promote a culture that ensures customers are at the centre of high quality services.

As the Deputy S151 Officer, other key priorities will be the undertaking of statutory duties and support arrangements for the proper administration of the Council's financial affairs, ensuring the financial integrity of the Council and the maintenance of the highest standards of financial control, and actively contributing to strategic, corporate, and service policy and decision making.

You will also support the development and implementation of the Council's medium term financial strategy, and provide financial advice to the organisation, Cabinet, and partners on new initiatives and changes in government policy.

To undertake this role, it is essential that you are a CCAB qualified with extensive leadership experience and can show a track record of working at a senior level within Local Government, as well as an ability to implement strategies leading to successful business outcomes.
