    Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant
    Northumberland (Full Time)

    This 'Outstanding' SEND school, based in Northumberland, supports children and young people aged 2-19 and is looking to appoint a passionate Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4 on a full-time basis.


    Working in this EYFS, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 SEND school as part of an established team, the desired Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Autism (ASC), Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, Speech and Language Communication, Physical Disabilities, Sensory Regulation, Visual or Auditory Sensory Impairment or Social Emotional and Mental Health.

    This full time Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant role is long term from May ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.


    Free dedicated online training sessions in areas such as safeguarding, child protection, behaviour management and working in SEND (special education needs and disabilities).

    A paid placement working in a school setting of your choice (depending on availability).

    Support in processing your compliance and background clearance checks (cost of enhanced DBS check and Update Service registration not included).

    A reference from your placement school enabling you to work in schools as a TA.

    Support from education recruitment experts in finding you work once your placement is complete - you will join our supply pool where you can gather even more school experience, with the potential to finding a long-term or permanent role.

    The desired Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant will have;

    A passion to work in education.

    A commitment to undertake virtual, evening training sessions and committed to completing the required training and participating in ongoing CPD.

    Availability to complete a paid placement in a school.
    Be able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
    Be flexible, proactive and a team player.
    Understand the crucial importance of keeping children and young people safe.

    Be able to demonstrate at interview the reasons why you want to start a career in education, and explain your understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant and the important part they play in the school community.

    Be willing to pay for an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
