This is an extremely exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional to join the team in a strategic role with UK and Europe responsibilities.

What will this role achieve?


The role of the Regional Category Manager for Packaging and Paper is to lead and manage the procurement of, maintain & develop the supplier base, drive strategic relationships and develop and execute material group strategies for the UK and Europe regions.

The role holder will report into the Procurement Lead for UK and Europe who is liable for the purchase of for Ingredients & Commodities portfolios, Co-Manufacturing, Procurement Operations and Indirect spend.


The Regional Category Lead Packaging and Paper will be liable for spend of circa £120 million across all UK and Europe.

The role operates within a very competitive and exciting market place where the buyers will need to ensure risk management tools are utilised to cap our exposure and to develop supply depending on changing market dynamics.

You will have the responsibility to develop and deliver key initiatives in line with overall Procurement objectives.

You will develop the category strategy, exploit opportunities within OPC and deliver objectives in terms of cost, quality, service and innovation.

In this role, you will work closely with manufacturing sites, supply chain and central technical partners to ensure the delivery of key material group projects & activities and engage directly with both global Procurement and R&D teams supporting pladis group initiatives

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Understands pladis and the region's business strategies for packaging and paper in detail and how it impacts pladis Procurement. Communicate them effectively across procurement so that accurate action is taken.
  • Develop positive relationships with key partners to understand and align Procurements objectives with the business' needs, to align on a course of action and to remove barriers.
  • Specifically, understands in detail the strategy and approach for the Region to best support their customer, procurement and supply management needs in the context of packaging and paper regional categories.
  • Participates in and implements procurement transformation throughout pladis, by working with partners and responding to any issues or suggestions relating to packaging and paper category.
  • Holds regular review sessions with key internal customers and Global Procurement team to ensure that the business needs are being met effectively by the team.
  • Communicates the value of the Procurement function to the business.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities

Acts in accordance with and advocates the 'Procurement Key Operating Principles'.

Acts as a key member of pladis Regional Procurement, to ensure self and all Packaging and Paper team members are exemplars of professional procurement practice, ensuring all procurement activity in accordance with pladis procurement operating model, One Procurement Community (OPC), stated ethics, CSR and other procurement and legal policies.
