About the Role:


Trafford has responded to the Ukraine humanitarian crisis over the last eight months in a number of ways to help new arrivals to the Borough.

The national response offered UK residents an opportunity to 'sponsor' a Ukrainian person or family unit in returnfor safe housing.

This offer has been taken up and there are currently in the region of a hundred and fifty sponsors


The Local Authority are required to provide 'safeguarding/welfare checks' on all guest's upon arrival to ensure their well-being is maximised and our guests are safe.

These arrangements require reviewing at the point of a change of living arrangements orafter six months.


The purpose of the Social Worker role is to ensure both the guest is safe & free from harm and identify any care and support needs under the Care Act.

There are further reporting requirements which need to be produced for DLUHC to ensure due diligence hasbeen applied in each case therefore the outcome of the welfare checks needs notifying to the Trafford Homes for Ukraine Team.


Many of the welfare visits can be completed by our non-registered Social Care Assessor but where advice & guidance is required, the peripatetic Ukraine Social Worker will be able to provide advice & guidance and will lead on the more complex issues arisingfrom the initial visits.


A significant part of the role will be to engage in informative and preventative conversations which will include outcomes focused and strengths based assessments and signposting to suitable agencies.


You will be required to manage the Homes for Ukraine workload across the Borough in conjunction with a designated Social Care Assessor and will hold a caseload of work.

You will organise your working hours to make best use of your time ensuring this workis balanced with the responsibilities and work demands of the team.


You will build effective professional relationships with other disciplines and with other local health and social care services to enable a coordinated response to the local population as and when required.

Additional Information -Flexibility will be required on occasion to work outside core hours when undertaking the duty function.
