The Business

Our client is an innovative international electronics manufacturer located in Powys, Wales.

Responsibilities

• Creation of innovative designs
• Designing critical power components
• Developing analogue, digital, and electronic circuits and systems for power electronics
• Implementing designs that meet functional requirements and comply with international EMC and Safety regulations
• Collaborating with external suppliers
• Developing new product specifications and documentation
• Participating in product design reviews
• Adhering to project timelines and plans
• Mentoring and assisting other Development Engineers
• Conducting type test meetings and creating test equipment

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

• Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics with at least 2 years of engineering experience
• Knowledge of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems
• Experience with simulation tools like PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, or Mathlab Simulink
• Ability to build prototypes and conduct system experiments and tests
• Familiarity with planning tools and application of planning theory
• Interest in exploring emerging technologies and incorporating them into designs

Desired Characteristics

• Modeling, testing, and applying high-power semiconductor and passive components
• Passion for exploring and developing new technologies
• Effective workflow management from lab bench to reporting
• Strong project technical leadership skills and willingness to work globally
• Experience in thermal, mechanical, or EMC for motor drives
• Knowledge of electromagnetic & electrostatic fields simulation and testing
• Motor drive design expertise
