    Description
    Redefine your personal best.

As part of continued UK growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior or Principal Environmental Consultant with expertise in environmental permitting and environmental management.

Whilst there will be opportunities to provide environmental support across the UK and Ireland over a wide range of projects, the current emphasis for this role will be on applying for permits for wastewater treatment sites across Scotland under the pollution prevention and control regime, working closely with the client and the regulator, SEPA.

This position can be ideally based at either of our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices.

The role will be based within a wider environmental team that provides bespoke and expert advice and services to clients across water, energy, waste, resources, minerals, infrastructure and development sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the PPC regime to include BAT, MCPD and integrated environmental management through experience of working as a regulator, consultant or within industry.

You will work across Stantec's UK business closely collaborating with our multidisciplinary technical specialist teams (e.g. air quality; hydrogeology; noise/acoustics; process engineers) together with wider teams focused on EHS auditing, planning and EIA, environmental management, asset management and business consulting.

About You To be successful in this role you will have a deep understanding of environmental themes and prevailing regulation and emerging themes in the UK.

We would expect you to hold extensive, relevant experience and hold full chartered membership of at least one relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA, CIWEM) with a commitment to continued development. It would be an advantage, but not essential, if you hold position(s) on relevant industry or technical working groups.

The role will also likely extend to wider environmental management and compliance advisory support to projects through EHS auditing, planning, EIA and ongoing client operations.

You should be willing to learn, be a good communicator, have the ability to work autonomously, develop new and existing business, mentor staff and support clients and projects across our UK teams.

Travel will be required between Stantec's UK offices but also to attend client meetings, site visits and industry events (workshops, conferences, etc.) where these cannot be otherwise attended via remote means.

Some overnight stays may be required as part of the role.
