    Automation Engineer

    Work policy: Hybrid 2 days a week in Manchester office/ Flexible start hours

    Salary: C. £70k

    COMPANY: A challenger Marketplace, our client has doubled in size over the last 18 months, has grown subscriptions to nearly 5million users and continues to grow their market share with innovative AI tech at the forefront of their DNA.

    With a wide variety of high-profile contract wins, including partnerships with some of the biggest brands on the marketplace today, they are now seeking an automation engineer adept in terraform to push observability throughout the business.

    A core DevOps and automation role that is integral to the brand's evolution, this position brings with it immense potential career highlights with an applicant needing to be ambitious, tenacious and up for mentoring starters, building platforms and automating infrastructure deployments.

    Automation Engineer – The role:

    • Continually evolve the brand's infrastructure through using infrastructure as code with Terraform
    • Ensure cloud environments are secure
    • Push automation throughout new platform build to help alleviate engineers' workloads
    • Evaluate CI/CD processes and find areas to improve
    • Work closely with engineers and help promote good practices across observability, operations, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.
    • Communicate with internal customers with an aim to optimise processes & remove bottlenecks

    What are some of the key skills you'll need?

    • Relevant commercial experience and certifications in distributing and production workloads on AWS
    • Skilled in programming languages (think javascript/node, typescript, golang, C#, PHP, python, java etc.)
    • Demonstrable experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK, Pulumi
    • Familiar with MySQL would be beneficial but not required
    • Comfortable operating and diagnosing production workloads (outages, tracing problems, troubleshooting)
    • Confident individual that won't shy away from advocating for automation & CI/CD
    • Prior working knowledge with DataDog, Splunk
    • Experience and knowledge of securing cloud environments, rotating keys, documenting risks, and meeting compliance requirements is a plus
