We have an exciting opportunity for Product Test Engineers in Cambridge to work for a global leader in the design and manufacture of their product.

As an integral part of our product development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test strategies, test plans, and test cases for our critical communication radio products.

Your work will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality products to our customers.


Description of Job (Main responsibilities and tasks)

Test Strategy and Planning: Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans for embedded products, considering both hardware and software components.

Test Case Development: Create detailed test cases to validate product functionality, performance, and reliability.

Test Execution: Execute test cases, analyze test results, and report defects to the development team with clear and concise documentation.

Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure that new features and updates do not negatively impact existing functionality.

Integration Testing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct integration testing of embedded systems with external components and interfaces.

Hardware Testing: Conduct hardware testing, including power consumption analysis, and audio quality

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance testing methodologies, tools, and processes to improve overall product quality and department efficiency

Documentation: Review product specification, maintain accurate records of test plans, test cases, test results, and defect reports.

Collaboration: Work closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and quality assurance teams to facilitate effective communication and issue resolution.
The role is full time and is office based at our offices in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK with occasional oversees travel

Skills and Experience (Essential)

Embedded Systems Testing:Proficiency in testing embedded systems, including hardware and software components, to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.

Hardware Testing: Knowledge of hardware testing methodologies, including power consumption analysis and audio quality

Test Creation: Experience defining new product level test cases
-
Fault Investigation: Ability to investigate fault scenarios to isolate issues in embedded systems.

Documentation: Strong documentation skills to maintain accurate records of test plans, test cases, test results, and defect reports.

Quality Assurance: A passion for quality assurance and a keen eye for detail to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.

Test Strategy: Ability to develop comprehensive test strategies and plans tailored to embedded product testing.

Regression Testing: Experience in conducting regression testing to verify that new features and updates do not introduce regressions in existing functionality.

Integration Testing: Familiarity with integration testing of embedded systems with external components and interfaces.

Test Management Systems: Knowledge of Test Management systems (e.g., TestLink) to manage test cases and record test results.

Skills and Experience (Desirable)

Radio Systems: Previous 2-way radio/communication product test experience is highly desirable e.g., PMR, DMR, TETRA, LTE, GMS

Test Automation: Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Robot Framework, or custom scripts) to streamline and accelerate testing.

Leadership: Previous experience of line management or as a technical/test lead
