    About the role

    The Strategic Network Team have recently undertaken a review to identify work and maintenance tasks which are required as part of our increased focus on how best to look after and maintain our strategic network asset base, above and below ground. This focus is vital to ensure we continue to deliver industry leading customer service.

    As a Strategic Network Technician, you will be expected to be hands on, the role also requires you to be practically minded and have a good basic understanding of pumps, control systems and network hydraulics. This is a physically demanding role and manual handling will be a daily occurrence and well as entering into confined spaces along with working at height.

    You will find yourself working within a team helping to provide the necessary resource and competences to maintain assets at strategic sites as well as supporting others to develop solutions to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

    The management and supervisory team within water operations encourage empowerment and you will be given the support, training and skills needed to make on the spot decisions enabling you to work and think smarter while feeling confident in the decisions you make.

    This role offers individuals an excellent opportunity to develop and build specialist water networks knowledge while carrying out challenging operational tasks and intervention solutions.

    You will play a key role in ensuring a proactive approach to support our wider operational teams across the region whilst on occasions having to work outside of normal operating hours and the possibility of participating in a standby rota.

    Health & Safety is paramount within the role for both yourself as an individual and the wider team The tasks undertaken directly contribute to a range of key outcome measures for the company, examples of these are: Water Quality, Health and Safety and The Environment.

    Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

    Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.

    About you

    You will be a great communicator and have the ability to assess safety risks of work assigned. We're looking for you to have positive drive and enthusiasm to work alone as well as part of a team.

    You will have excellent customer service skills and have a desire to work flexibly in a 24/7 fast paced environment, you will be comfortable working alone using your own initiative and with minimum supervision to make on the spot decisions, this enabling you to work and think smarter while feeling confident in the decisions you make.

    Successful candidates will hold a full UK driving licence and live within or close proximity to the Essex operating area.
