    The Mount Batten Centre, based in Plymouth, Britain's Ocean City, offers a world-class location for diverse water sports, including dinghy sailing, windsurfing, paddlesports, diving, and land-based adventure/learning activities.

    The Centre and its affiliates provide prestigious, innovative training courses, competitions and events to individuals, schools, youth groups, and many other organisations:

    In addition, the Mount Batten Centre is a major 'gateway' into the UK's first National Marine Park, which has recently secured a £22m grant funding package to enable people in Plymouth and surrounds to enjoy and learn about Plymouth Sound, its conservation and protection:

    We now require a new, commercially minded CEO, who can demonstrate relevant leadership and management experience to lead a small team of instructors and administration staff to develop and deliver the Centre's ambitious and exciting new vision.

    Applicants will need to evidence a successful track record of driving inspirational leadership and operational excellence. Your mission is to cultivate strategic partnerships, ensure financial stability and propel the Centre towards becoming a hub for community engagement and water sports in Plymouth, Devon.

    Flexible working arrangements, as some evening and weekend duties will be required.

    Person Specification:

    Essential -

    1. Degree level or similar in relevant field.

    2. Strong leadership and management skills with relevant experience in leading a small team charity, business or department.

    3. Experience of partnership working with a broad range of stakeholders e.g. Local Authority (members and officers), Sports England, university sector, sports clubs, national governing bodies, funders and community groups.

    4. Excellent financial management skills, with proven track record in managing complex budgets, managing charity finances, generating diverse income streams, accessing grant funding and managing cashflow.

    5. Experience of working in the leisure, heritage, environmental, sports or related sector.

    6. Strong communication and engagement skills. Experience of presenting to boards and senior groups of stakeholders.

    7. Strong project management experience.

    8. Evidence of promoting equality and meeting diversity targets, including actions which expand the reach of activities and accessibility of facilities.

    9. Full DBS check will be required.

    Desirable -

    1. Experience of working in the water sports and leisure sectors with a proven track record of delivering and attracting national and international sailing and other events; plus evidencing of community impact.

    2. Experience of working with Heritage Lottery or similar national funding schemes.

    3. Experience of delivering capital projects.
