Are you an experienced nurse with a desire to use your considerable knowledge to develop specialist skills in the management of patients who have Neuromuscular Conditions or Motor Neurone Disease? We are a growing and dynamic team with exciting times ahead. The post is suitable for those wishing to develop their career as a specialist.
You do not have to be an expert now as we provide a comprehensive individualised personal orientation and a professional development plan which will be tailored to your current skills and experience. The successful candidates will work under the direction of a well-established Neuromuscular Care Advisor and together you will contribute to the multidisciplinary team facilitating effective management of patients with NMD or neuromuscular conditions depending which post you apply for.
The successful candidates will be motivated, forward thinking, enthusiastic and committed to becoming involved in all aspects of the patient pathway, working in close collaboration with ward and community staff and other clinicians. They will be self-reliant and confident with an ability to work flexibly and adapt to change.
Main duties of the job
The present Care Advisor along with CNS and physiotherapy colleagues, support and advise patients on various issues around their conditions including all aspects of diagnosis, management, treatment options as well as social and psychological issues.
The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in both the community and hospital environment is essential as well as an ability to prioritise your own workload.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and be comfortable with difficult conversations. Some of the patients you will work with have life limiting conditions, you will need to be resilient and resourceful in managing this sometimes difficult work, but you will have the benefit of a supportive team and the reward of giving excellent care to the patient and those surrounding them.
