Health & Safety Advisor
The Health & Safety Advisor will provide site based technical and administrative support as part of the HSE Team and report to the Senior Health Safety and Environment Manager.
The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for providing site engagement, coaching, mentoring, monitoring, advising, and maintaining all aspects of the health & safety processes and procedures that protect the workforce and minimise the company's health & safety risks on all sites and locations.
Liaising with site teams to provide HSE documentation, advice, support and training on all aspects of health & safety compliance and issues affecting the constructionCoaching, mentoring & monitoring health & safety practices on site and head office and advising site management on improving their health & safety standards
Completing site health & safety inspections/audits and discussing findings and recommendations with site management
ISO 45001 company champion & monitoring & ensuring compliance with ISO 45001
Supporting site with specific health & safety enquires, guidance, solutions, risk assessment, method statement, safe systems of work etc
Design and implementation of company-wide initiatives to improve health & safety awareness
Developing innovative health & safety solutions
Liaising with health & safety specialists, regulators and client representatives
The successful Health & Safety Advisor must have the following qualifications and capabilities:
Minimum NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate
Preferable 2 years working for a civil engineering contractor
Highly developed professional communication skills, including writing and presentation of reports, investigations, preparing relevant documents, and participating in a range of meetings
Be able to confidently and effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce, contractors, clients and regulatory bodies
Be self-motivated, focused, reliable, well-organised, flexible, possess good team working ethic
Enthusiastic about health & safety issues and constantly use initiative
Possess strong computer literacy, including good working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite
Willingness to travel & work at various sites across the UK (including overnight stays)
Full UK driving licence
