    Lead IT Business Analyst

    York, England - Hybrid 1/2 days per week

    £65,000 - £75,000

    Introduction

    This role sits within the Finance Systems Technology team. The focus for this role is to lead the Business Analyst and Data Analyst team to define and analyse business, functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into detailed system requirements and technical design specifications for a range of Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Data modelling and Database design solutions.

    The role of the Lead Business Analyst

    This role will involve working on change initiatives (some of which will be regulatory in nature) and supporting month end BAU activities . The role requires 'hands on' investigation of technical data and will involve working closely with internal and external delivery teams, external vendors, infrastructure and 3rd party application teams to support the analysis of system changes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build strong productive relationships with the business, IT teams and external 3rd parties in order to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of the business and technology
    • Conduct requirements gathering sessions with various levels of the business & IT, ensuring that the Group IT strategic needs are being met while also realising incremental benefits for the business
    • Produce high quality business analyst deliverables, such as user stories, acceptance criteria, functional & non-functional specifications, business cases, project feasibility and costings reports
    • Take full ownership of managing the product backlog of key systems on change initiatives
    • Act as primary focus for questions related to business usage of systems within your sphere of influence.
    • Support the system and UAT test teams, helping with understanding of the change and reviewing test cases to ensure full coverage
    • Support the on-going development of the Business Analyst function, developing standards, procedures, and knowledge transfer
    • Design data lineage / data flows for the relevant interfaces and provide an analysis of the existing and future data retention and security requirements that need to be adhered to
    • Represent Group IT on change initiatives and ensure high business analysis standards are maintained
    • Support business units with ad hoc queries
    • Reconcile data between interfaces and manage any expectations with the business units

    Technical Skills

    • Experience managing a team, strategically assessing development, mentoring and have completed performance reviews.
    • 2+ years Solution Design, Data Warehouse, Modelling and Business Intelligence experience (experience of Microsoft SQL Server technologies is beneficial)
    • Experience working with Finance Business processes (e.g., Month end closure, Finance Reconciliation, Journal updates, etc.)
    • 7+ year's Business Analysis experience, with a minimum of 4+ years spent in regulatory environments, Finance Systems and Processes.
    • Past experience in implementing new technologies or software
    • Good experience of using Jira, Confluence, MS Teams or similar collaboration tools
    • Visio (or other process modelling software) skills
    • Experience with maintainable, extensible, high performance data warehouse application architectures
    • Data mining capabilities
    • Experience of data/system integration and a strong ability to identify dependencies
    • Exposure to large scale projects/programmes and working in a matrix environment with 3rd party suppliers
    • Hold relevant industry qualifications (e.g. ISEB, PRINCE2)
