    TheRole:

    We are looking to recruit aCivil Engineering Design Manager to join our growing team.Reporting to the Head of Civil Engineering you will be responsiblefor resolving complex civil and structural design issues across ourdiverse project portfolio; reviewing and assuring that the designswe produce are safe costeffective and deliverable. You will adviseand engage with Project Managers Electrical Design Engineers SiteManagers as well as engaging directly with our clients.

    Youll be joining the Engineering and Design Teamworking at the heart of Ethical Powers projects predominately BESSand solar across the whole lifecycle from early concept developmentthrough to delivery. You will get to see the tangible results ofyour work and play your part in helping the UKs journey to NetZero

    The key responsibilities of the roleare:

    • Supporting the Head of CivilEngineering with the creation of business policy and procedures inrelation to civil design and civilconstruction.
    • Assisting the business in thestandardisation of civil design drawings and constructionmethodology.
    • Scoping of Site Investigations toaddress key civil engineering designrisks.
    • Working with the commercial andtendering teams to ensure that the proposed civil scope iscompliant with Employers requirements IDNO DNO TO IEC and otherInternational Standards
    • Assist the tenderingteam with civil design support for early project developmentphase.
    • Creation of detailed designspecifications for Civil and Structural Engineeringconsultants.
    • Design assurance and verificationof civil design against Employer Requirements DNO/TO specificationsdesign specification planning conditions and local authorityspecifications.
    • Real time response to siterelated queries on civil design.
    • Assisting theOperations team with Project Civil Engineering ITP and Tenderpacks.
    • Identifying opportunities fordevelopment of civil design as an inhousefunction.
    • Completing occasional site visitswith local council and civils teams to ensure correct scope ofworks.
    • Identifying and developing valueengineering opportunities within ourdesigns.

    ThePerson:

    The ideal candidate willhave a proven experience in a Civil EngineeringContracting/Consulting environment. You will have valuableexperience of Civil and/or Structural Engineering Design workingwithin Energy Generation Electricity Transmission or ElectricityDistribution area. Strong experience of simultaneously managingmultiple stakeholders and projects isrequired.

    The successful candidate will holdprofessional membership with the ICE or IStructE together with aworking knowledge of Structural Eurocodes and proven knowledge ofCDM Regulations. Experience with AutoCAD is required.

    The role holder will have a proactive nature andinitiativetaking approach to projects together with a passion forproblem solving. You will have excellent attention to detail and beselfmotivated driven and goal orientated. A full driving licence isnecessary for this role.

    Ideally the role holderwill have a working knowledge of DNO and TO Technical Standards.Experience managing matrix teams would be beneficial. Experienceworking with IDNOs or ICPs as well as temporary works designexperience would be an added bonus.
