    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to join our therapy team on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Older Persons Short Stay Unit (OPSSU) based at Northwick Park Hospital. The AMU unit is comprised of three wards ranging from length of stay of 12 hours to 72 hours and in reaching in the clinical decision unit in ED, and OPSSU is one ward ranging from length of stay from 48 hours to several weeks.

    This requires rapid assessment, implementation of treatment plans, execution of excellent rehabilitation programs and coordination of safe and effective discharge plans for general medical patients, with a range of conditions including cardio-respiratory (e.g. exacerbations of asthma, COPD, pneumonia, heart failure), rheumatology, orthopaedics, neuro (e.g.MS) and impaired mobility.

    The post will provide the opportunity to further develop your clinical skills with a diverse caseload whilst contributing to development of the inpatient services.

    A developmental position may be considered.

    Main duties of the job As an autonomous practitioner, to assess and treat own caseload and provide a specialist physiotherapy service within AMU & OPSSU

    Complete comprehensive multisystem assessments (respiratory, neuro, MSK) to develop thorough problem lists and treatment plans to deliver a high standard of care including holistic care and prompt discharge planning.

    To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), assessing and treating patients with potentially complex disability, working towards facilitating discharges where possible and maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.

    To support the line manager in the provision and management of physiotherapy services, including responsibility for managing students and junior staff.

    To engage in own continued professional development (CPD) and service development, in conjunction with the Band 7s and 8s.

    Please note that 7 day working is undertaken across therapies at the Trust. Days off are allocated in the week following weekend working (1 in 5 weekends).
