Why is this role crucial for Pogust Goodhead?

We are urgently seeking an exceptional Junior Barrister with expertise in civil litigation to join Pogust Goodhead and to work within the CEO's private office.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the CEO, providing legal expertise, strategic guidance and executive support in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, as well as representing the firm internationally and acting as a trusted representative when required.


Requirements:


Role & responsibilities and core competencies

As a Junior Barrister, your tasks will include:

  • To provide expert legal analysis on matters related to business and human rights, civil litigation and international law.
  • To act as a conduit for the CEO between various teams across the business, as well as regularly liaising with key external stakeholders.
  • To review drafts of key pleadings and correspondence, providing strategic insight and support to litigation teams.
  • To conduct legal research and analyse complex legal issues.
  • To lead on the analysis of new litigation opportunities across the business, providing opinions.
  • To travel internationally to represent the firm's interests, attend external meetings and investigate new litigation opportunities.
  • To collaborate with partners and senior lawyers to develop legal strategies.
  • To assist the General Counsel function by providing secondtier review of key contracts and agreements.
  • To stay uptodate with the latest legal developments, international conventions and human rights issues.

What you'll bring to Pogust Goodhead:

Essential

  • Qualified UK Barrister with significant experience in civil litigation.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise relevant to Pogust Goodhead's practice areas.
  • Ability to travel internationally at short notice and adapt to different legal systems and cultures.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to convey complex legal arguments effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and commitment to human rights principles.
Ability to act as a representative of the CEO and the firm, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion.
