Key work areas will include:

Leadership, influencing and communication skills for day to day running of one or more large scale complex quality improvement project focusing on cancer screening, including scoping of resource and capacity, developing and delivering education, prioritising reducing cancer related health inequalities through targeted approach to increasing participation for cancer screening.

This involves working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and a strong partnership with the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Academy.

Work collaboratively with NHSE S&I Team, initially having a focus on access to data and how this is shared/utilised across the region.

Triangulating this data with both relevant programmes across CMCA and also with external stakeholders to drive quality improvement.


Work collaboratively with the Primary Care Engagement team (Cancer GP Clinical Leads and Cancer Engagement Leads), supported by the GP Clinical Quality Group, to develop joint plans with Primary Care and other organisations to deliver improvements in cancer outcomes through participation with the cancer screening programmes.

In partnership with the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Academy the Cancer Screening Engagement/Strategic Lead will develop and deliver specific education on national cancer screening programmes.

This role will be both strategic and operational and will be a point of contact for cancer screening with CMCA and Cancer Academy.

Setting up and planning of quality improvement projects, underpinned by the GP Clinical Quality Group, including steering groups, assurance functions, work teams, documentation using CMCA programme management documentation and recognised quality improvement methodologies.

Provide strategic overview and insight of cancer screening initiatives across C&M. Plus provide an interface with all CMCA projects/programmes relevant to screening e.g.

timely presentation, community engagement, health inequalities and tumour site reviews Provide a key communication channel between CMCA and cancer screening programmes, facilitating the transfer of data, soft intelligence and identification of need, whilst simultaneously creating potential for development and delivery of CMCA workstreams.

Identify resources to enable quality improvement delivery and assuring delivery on time and to budget.

Ensure that the quality improvement reporting adheres to the CMCA programme governance framework. Line management of CMCA support team members. Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders; building relationships, coordinating, and collaborating with wider partners to deliver quality improvement initiatives.

Develop a national Community of Practice (COP) for all relevant Cancer Alliance screening roles, creating opportunities for share and learn.

Identify and manage the risks associated with each quality improvement initiative.

Manage the change brought about by the quality improvement effectively and efficiently using available data to show improvements and impact, and sharing these across CMCA.

Maintain knowledge of local, regional, and national projects that are current and pending related to cancer screening.
