We're delighted to be working exclusively with West House seeking a new HR Lead. West House specialises in providing individual care and support to people with learning disabilities across Cumbria.

This includes 24/7 care for people with complex needs resulting from learning and other disabilities, through to providing occasional support for someone living independently.


Our vision is for children, young people and adults with learning and other disabilities in Cumbria to live a fulfilling life, in the way they want and with the support they choose.


The role:


To lead and direct the operational functions of a small Human Resources team and to provide support with the coordination and administration of Training.

This role provides functional, first-line support to managers and colleagues across the business and you will help with guidance across the employee lifecycle.


  • This would be a fantastic opportunity for an HR Officer or HR Assistant looking to take their first steps into a leadership position._

Responsibilities:


  • Support the delivery of all HR Operations including administration for Training.
  • Reporting to the People & Development Director, you will work closely with the rest of the HR Team to ensure that all HR queries are being dealt with efficiently.
  • Work to demonstrate that West House is committed to employment practices that promote diversity and inclusion in employment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, sex, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity status, race, religion or belief.
  • Providing advice and guidance to Managers across HR Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide advice on terms and conditions of employment.
  • Promote the provision of the existing staff benefits package, giving advice to staff as necessary.
  • Manage employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement, redundancy and performance issues.
  • Manage the HR team, focusing on the personal and career development of the HR Officer, Business Support Officer (Payroll), HR Assistant and HR Apprentice.
  • Ensure the monthly payroll processing is carried out accurately and in a timely manner working with Service Leads and the Business Team to ensure data is returned and submitted.

About you:


  • HR Generalist with broad operational HR experience
  • Good understanding of UK employment law
  • Suited to a fastpaced environment

  • CIPD qualification preferred but will support to achieve
