The Role

You will bring your experience of communications from a range of media to maximise outreach and public impact for the most ambitious nature recovery and people engagement programme in Wales.

'Natur am Byth' unites nine environmental charities and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to deliver the country's largest natural heritage and people engagement programme to save species from extinction and connect people to nature.

You will join NRW's integrated communications team alongside other communications professionals with whom you will collaborate.

This role is dedicated to the Natur am Byth programme so you will work directly with four other NRW staff in the Natur am Byth central programme team, including a people engagement co-ordinator who you will work closely alongside.

You will be line managed by the integrated communications team leader and also report to the Natur am Byth programme manager who has oversight of all projects and activities.

You will liaise closely with communications colleagues from each of the 10 Natur am Byth partners to lead the creation of a detailed communications and advocacy plan to ensure a co-ordinated approach to delivery of comms activities and materials.

You will employ a wide range of channels and methods to raise awareness and understanding of the activities across the 11 place-based projects and nationally co-ordinated work.

You will work with all the partners and other organisations to promote opportunities to engage, collaborate and share online content.

You will use your expertise in the production of quality bi-lingual materials to create inspiring content for digital platforms, traditional media and site-specific interpretation.

You will champion the Welsh language and our vision to positively frame nature recovery and empower the public to celebrate Wales' rarest species.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills required
Some experience of working in a professional communications team.

Good level of skill across all Comms disciplines and channels.

Member of relevant professional body and visible commitment to your own CPD (or be prepared to join).

Good understanding of NRW's remit, roles, policies and priorities in order to be able to drive effective communications campaigns in support of these.

Able to make sound judgement calls.

You will work closely with the Natur am Byth people engagement co-ordinator to reach people from a wide range of backgrounds and ensure that Natur am Byth connects with a diverse audience.

You will lead the development of a detailed communications plan and will continually find new ways for the partnership to thank and acknowledge funders, especially players of the National Lottery.

This role will offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Agile and flexible working (role dependent)
  • Civil Service Pension Scheme offering employer contributions of 26.6% to 30.3%
  • 28 days annual leave, rising to 33 days
  • Generous leave entitlements for all your life needs
  • Health and wellbeing benefits and support
  • Weekly wellbeing hour to use as you choose
