Hours of work:
Monday to Friday 39 hours per week - Flexible Start/Finish Times


Hybrid/Work from home 1-2 days a fortnight, can be accommodated for admin purposes.


Vickerstock are working exclusively in partnership with a leading Manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Health and Safety Officer.

The company now cater for large international clients with a portfolio of products that cross into various, very different markets.

They take their predominantly bespoke product lines and bring them right through from concept, to design, through full manufacture, to commissioning.

The role of Health, Safety and Environmental Officer / Lead:

  • Carry out and support risk assessments to identify, assess and reduce the business's Health and Safety risks.
  • Work in a collaborative culturepositive "togetherness" manner to include, empower and improve Health, Safety and Environmental to meet company objectives
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Work closely with local government departments and adhere to their compliance standards, reporting and maintaining all relevant systems and paperwork.
  • Responsible for looking after both the physical and mental health and welfare of all staff throughout the company.
  • Responsible for monitoring and scheduling all health, safety, and environmental training, liaising with external suppliers where necessary and coordinating with all internal stakeholders to ensure successful and timely delivery and compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance of all HSE procedures and PPE across all staff within the company, working closely with HR when repetitive noncompliance occurs.
  • Propose and justify HSE spend budgets to Senior Management, carrying out costing exercises with suppliers, placing orders and ensuring delivery to the required departments.
  • Hold safety briefings across the company and report on such to Senior management.
  • Carry out Accident / Incident investigations on site and provide support to other investigations.
  • Keep up to date with existing and new HSE legislation, acting on it when necessary and educating/training on such when required.

Essential Experience for the role of Health, Safety and Environmental Officer / Lead:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role in a Manufacturing / Engineering environment
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety or similar
  • Experience in adhering and managing to HSE systems / protocols in a Manufacturing / Engineering environment.
  • An attitude towards teamwork and positive collaboration across all stakeholders while achieving your goals
  • Ability to coach and mentor within HSE.
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to justify logical reasoning to bring others along with you.
  • Up to date knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
