Commercial Buyer - Supplier Negotiation

Stretford, Manchester. Office based. Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:00


In this role you will negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing and lead times, analysing and updating pricing agreements to ensure contract profitability.

You must be confident dealing with suppliers, developing rapport quickly, being commercially astute and negotiating effective outcomes


Working closely with the Product Team (who are responsible for sourcing) you will contact new suppliers, positioning requirements, negotiating prices and arrangements, delivering both cost savings and supply chain robustness.


This role is ideally suited to a graduate, with excellent analytical skills who enjoys negotiating and has at least two years' experience in a commercial environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established industrial supplies specialist which provides a diverse product range including Adhesive, Tapes, Sealants, PPE, Tools, Paints and Hygiene supplies to blue-chip organisations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyse supplier price, product availability, delivery and performance measures against contractual commitments and make commercial recommendations
  • Contact suppliers regarding potential price changes and to obtain best pricing to meet contract and tender requirements
  • Negotiate fixed prices, volume discounts and reducedprice increases to maintain margins and profitability
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Pricing / Information to a wide range of suppliers, reviewing and analysing information received, comparing suppliers, product ranges and pricing proposing best product and price selections for bidding purposes.
  • Prepare contract repricing exercises, identifying potential gaps / risks, working closely with the Product teams to find suppliers and product ranges to mitigate issues.

Key Requirements:


  • Advanced analytical capability, enjoys using Excel and willing to learn inhouse ERP system Microsoft Dynamics / 365 BC training to be provided
  • Experienced at negotiation and relationship building.
  • Strong motivated individual with a forwardthinking approach.
  • Selfmotivated, confident and able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to manage own time and prioritise workload
