    Financial Control Associate

    Salary: National ranging from £28,800 to £32,500 and London from £31,600 to £36,000

    Are you a part-qualified accountant looking to take on a newly created role, where you will be able to provide financial support to the FCA?

    The team/department

    Finance and Business Services look after the finances and working environment of the FCA. The division focuses strongly on customer service, providing both support and appropriate challenge to the wider business to help ensure that the FCA utilises its available resources to provide appropriate value for money.

    The Financial Control teamwork plan includes: daily cash management activities; provide support for month end; balance sheet reconciliations; fixed asset recording; taxes; maintenance of policies; preparation of the financial statements; management of the audit; and risk monitoring

    What you will be doing (the role)

    The core responsibilities will include:

  • Perform daily bank reconciliation across all accounts, liaising with key internal stakeholders such as revenue, payroll, and accounts payable, to obtain relevant and timely information to support robust account of all bank statement lines
  • Prepare schedule of expenses for the Chair, Executive and Non-Executive Directors for the FCA and PSR to be published quarterly
  • Produce accurate and timely journals with the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various central accounts
  • Provide information and support to the external auditors, dealing with any audit queries promptly
  • Ensure strong collaboration and knowledge sharing within and across the F&BS teams (Business Finance, Revenue & Business Services) to encourage strong working relationships and high-quality deliverables
  • Support any Freedom of Information request requiring information held by Financial Control team

    The skills and experience you will have

    Minimum

  • Part-qualified accountant (ICAEW/ACA/ACCA) with relevant experience in bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end audit
  • Experience with Finance Systems, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience of building constructive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Essential

  • Production of bank reconciliations within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Experience of delivering good quality, accurate financial analysis and reporting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to create an immediate impact
  • A pro-active self-starter with the drive, enthusiasm, and commercial acumen to support the achievement of FCA's objectives within its risk appetite
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • Good knowledge of expected financial policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical skills assessment of accounting issues and resolution)
  • A strong continuous improvement mentality, with an ability to identify inefficiencies in systems/processes, and work to eliminate them
