Job Purpose

Responsibility for all digital and print design activity within UofG Sport, assisting the Marketing & Membership Manager in producing high quality and engaging marketing communications, drive sales and develop UofG Sport products, services and activities.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create innovative and engaging designs, content and products for UofG Sport across multiple marketing mediums (e.g. digital signage, video, print, social media, branded items).
  • Proactively engage and communicate with internal/external customers to provide an outstanding customer experience.
  • Finalise all artwork in correct format for submission to printers and/or for diverse range of digital platforms.
  • Adhere to all legal requirements relating to duplication, printing, software, and fonts as well as the visual identity regulations laid down by the University.
  • Liaise with external organisations for the sourcing of print or other quotes ensuring best value is achieved within the agreed timescales of the project.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing & Membership Manager, contribute to progression of core and sub brands, developing design concepts to support core values, and consistent implementation internally and externally.
  • Act as the 'brand guardian' for UofG Sport ensuring consistency and alignment across service and in-line with University of Glasgow brand guidelines.
  • Support a series of on and off campus events organised by the Marketing & Membership Manager through creation of engaging marketing materials, and where required, event attendance.
  • Provide information to existing and prospective customers on the services provided by UofG Sport in a positive and professional manner.
  • Capture and create photography and video content.
  • Manage all digital filing and storage of resources.
  • Design, create and develop engaging content for Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA) across multiple marketing mediums (e.g. digital signage, video, print, social media, branded items).

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/ Qualifications

Essential:


A1 Scottish Credit & Qualification Framework Level 7 (HNC, VQ3) or equivalent and experience of personal development in graphic design or; Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.


Desirable:

B1 Scottish Credit & Qualification Framework level 8 (Degree, professional graphics or design qualification).
B2 MCP, MCSE or Mac qualified.
B3 Knowledge of design legislation and University policies and procedures relating to visual identity.
B4 Advanced photography and/or videography knowledge.


Skills

Essential:

C1 Advanced ability to operate a Mac and use Adobe Creative Suite products, specifically InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop.

C2 Strong, confident and adaptive communicator with good interpersonal skills adapting style to suit different people or situations; ability to start conversations as well as respond positively to enquires.

Ability to work under pressure and deal with customer queries effectively, in a timely and proactive manner.
C3 Ability to capture and manipulate photographs.
C4 Ability to capture and edit video content.
C5 Excellent time management skills.
C6 Ability to adapt within the ever-evolving digital landscape.
C7 Work effectively as part of a team, actively contributing to team morale.
C8 Well-developed problem solving ability.


Desirable:

D1 Ability to use Adobe Lightroom, Premiere, Acrobat or After Effects products.
D2 Ability to use Final Cut ProX editing software or similar.
D3 Curious and creative thinker, suggesting viable new ideas, concepts and approaches.


Experience

Essential:

E1 Relevant experience in a design or creative environment with qualifications above.
E2 Proven experience of positively engaging with internal/external customer groups.
E3 Demonstrable experience of previous project work using Adobe Creative Suite to produce design, video and photography.

E4 Proven ability to successfully operate within a multi-functional team and delivering against agreed targets to help drive awareness or specific product sales.


Desirable:

F1 Previous experience of working in a busy customer facing environment.
F2 Experience of dealing with customer enquiries, feedback and demanding customers.


Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £24,715 - £28,929 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and open-ended.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
