Lead People - Glasgow, United Kingdom - University of Glasgow
Description
The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 570 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have been recently awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024.
Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers. A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a Lead People and Organisational Development Business Partner to join the University's Human Resources function (known internally as People and Organisational Development or P&OD). As a member of our P&OD team, you'll play a crucial role in fostering an environment where talent thrives and innovation flourishes.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of P&OD for College of Science & Engineering (COSE), in this role you will deliver and coordinate a range of human resources business partnering provision that is aligned to the College of Science & Engineering (COSE) and University P&OD strategic and operational plans. Acting as an integrated business partner, you will develop and maintain effective, trusted client relationships and service delivery partnerships across COSE, supporting the delivery of the people agenda within the College, and influencing and delivering 'people' related initiatives that are aligned with the College's business needs. This will include working alongside senior P&OD colleagues to identify, propose and implement people solutions, such as organisational design and development, workforce planning and talent management initiatives, to enable the achievement of strategic objectives at both a College and institutional level.
You will be part of the College's P&OD professional team, and will play a key, lead role in coordinating the collaborative efforts of the business partner team to deliver an expert service that ensures that managers and staff across the College are able to utilise dedicated, tailored P&OD advisory and administrative services effectively. You will guide the delivery of routine human resources operations and collaborate with others to steer key projects and initiatives to successful implementation.
About you
With substantial human resources professional experience, gained within a complex and diverse knowledge-based environment, you will have a proven track record of contributing to the design and development of people and organisational development initiatives, as well as a proven track record of successfully influencing and shaping wider team efforts. You will confidently role-model our University Values and enjoy building trusted relationships, working collaboratively to resolve complex people issues whilst building management and leadership capabilities. Previous experience of managing change projects through to completion, and experience of policy and strategy development are key.
You will interact with a broad range of colleagues seeking guidance on people management goals and responsibilities, and therefore the ability to communicate effectively, and explain information clearly, and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles is essential. A comprehensive knowledge of people management principles, good practice and employment law relevant to large complex UK organisations is also required.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
Informal enquiries should be directed via email to Mhairi Docherty (Head of People & Organisational Development (COSE),
Closing Date: 23:45 on Sunday 19th May 2024
We endorse the principles of Athena Swan and hold bronze, silver and gold awards across the University.
