local authority in the

West Midlands region, to recruit experienced

Children Services Commissioning Lead. If you are looking to increase your earnings for the year,


Contract: 6 months

Salary:
£450 a day


Start Date:
ASAP


Shift Pattern: 37 hours per week /

Monday - Friday / 9am-5pm

DUTIES

  • Ensure that the services provided aligned to the Council strategy, vision, aims, objectives, priorities, and continuous improvement programme and play their part in achieving these. This includes compliance with Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Code of Conduct and the Councils Policies and Procedures.
  • Lead on all commissioning for council children's commitments to joint commissioning with ICB's and Regional Las.
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of robust commissioning strategies, associated delivery plans, the review of relevant statutory children's policies and procedures ensuring compliance and governance.
  • Supervise and lead the team of specialist commissioning officers to ensure team performance and effective service creation is on schedule by allocating tasks, identifying risks, considering best practice and current options, and ultimately making commissioning decisions in the best interest of the Council.
  • Maintain an interface with the all operational SW Teams, Placement and School Transport Services regarding areas of commissioned activity, safeguarding, serviceuser interaction / complaint / concerns, and payment authorisations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • At least 2 years' experience within a Children Services Commissioning Lead role or equivalent.
  • Experience of leading on commissioning and development of strategies and plans for services for Children, Young People and Families.
  • A sound understanding of all legal, commercial, regulator, operational and political aspects of all services delivered to Children in Need, Need of Protection, Looked After Children, SEND direct services and Leaving Care.
  • Degree / relevant professional qualification or experience
  • Substantial experience having worked at a senior management level understanding the nature of operational services and staff within LA children's services regarding SEND, LAC, and Safeguarding.
