Cloud Engineer - United Kingdom - Exasol AG

Description

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to help us build cloud infrastructure and take our software as a service product to the next level. You will play a crucial role in creating, managing and improving cloud infrastructure for Exasol's internal use and for our SaaS product. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural discussions, and build services both manually and using infrastructure-as-code. You will have a strong understanding of public cloud services and best practices and how to leverage compute, storage, network and managed services to create solutions. You will have a proven track record of creating production quality services and strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build and maintain high quality cloud services and service components
• Build infrastructure-as-code scripts (Terraform, Cloud Formation and AWS SAM) for new or existing services to create repeatable, testable solutions
• Help to build and maintain automated multi-stage testing for deployment of our SaaS service to ensure high service quality
• Participate in the software development process for our SaaS offering, sharing your production experience to contribute to resilient and maintainable product design
• Collaborate with our Support team to maintain, monitor, and improve operations of Exasol applications on our cloud platforms Establish service level objectives and build observability to ensure the objectives are met
• Create runbooks to empower our Support team to operate our cloud environments
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
• Live the best practices of cloud computing and DevOps, helping teams to build and operate their code reliably, securely.
• Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

Your Profile:

• A Computer Science or Engineering degree, or 3+ years professional experience,
• A proven track record building and supporting production quality SaaS services
• Hands-on operational experience with AWS including provisioning, operation, and monitoring is required. Experience with Azure and GCP is desirable.
• Deep understanding of cloud services, their best practices and how to leverage them for compute, storage, network and managed services
• Solid Linux, system design, and TCP/IP networking background
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) is desirable
• Experience with automated software deployment and CI/CD pipelines is desirable
• Fluency in English language
