ABOUT THE JOB.

We are looking for Technical Operatives to join our #WeAreMcCain family.


It's the job of our 'Tech Ops' to ensure potato intake operates effectively and that a continuous supply of potatoes meets planned schedule to quality requirements.

Safety is our number one priority here at McCain, so you'll also ensure daily checks for the area are completed, reporting any faults or malfunctions to the area leadership teams and engineering departments.


Also, we take our spuds seriously, so it's our Technical Operatives who ensure no potato varieties are mixed, completing all the paperwork fully including check sheets and cleaning records.

As a key member of the Manufacturing Team, you will work together with Shift Area Managers to also

  • Oversee the technical aspects of the department blending processes, bin management, achieving production requirements for the peeler.
  • Making technical adjustments as required for efficient running, calibrating, fault finding and rectifying as required.
  • Continually monitor and carry out tests to determine if area quality is being achieved, taking preventative or corrective action when appropriate and informing all applicable parties.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and the development and improvement of quality controls
  • Yard management including receiving loads, carrying out checks, driver management and maintaining cleanliness standards
  • Routine sampling of raw material, checking potato passport, recording of data and liaising with production leadership on specification achievements.
  • Maintain standard of cleanliness and organisation within receiving
  • Assist with training new operatives to the area

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


We're looking for someone with experience of working within food manufacturing in a similar role, and knowledge of the Health and Safety requirements within FMCG.

You'll be a confident and assertive communicator at all levels, with excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.

It will also be desirable to have knowledge of...

  • Lean manufacturing principles
  • Food Hygiene
  • HACCP
  • Understanding of continuous improvement
  • Intake knowledge

You must also have

  • A keen eye for continuous improvement and who will strive to find areas to enhance our line operations within our plant.
  • The ability to work at pace, without jeopardising quality and standards.
  • A team player who can play towards creating our winning culture.
  • A passion for quality with an eye for detail.

You'll be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire. We opened this plant back in the swinging sixties, but it's definitely not stuck in the past.

It's one of the largest French fry factories in the world and after a recent development, it's also one of the most high tech.
