The Role:
As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized support to students with SEN, helping them overcome learning barriers and succeed academically and personally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oneonone and group support to students with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their specific needs.
- Assist students in developing their academic, social, and life skills.
- Implement strategies and interventions outlined in individual education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt learning materials and differentiate instruction.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and participation.
- Monitor student progress, document achievements, and provide regular feedback to parents and the school team.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably as a support worker or teaching assistant.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies, interventions, and differentiation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt your approach to meet individual student needs.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or special needs support are desirable.
