Job overview:


We are looking for 2 experienced and qualified Medical Secretaries who can support the consultant medical lead and wider multidisciplinary team with administrative duties.


You will provide an efficient and effective secretarial and administrative service to the Lead Consultant for the Occupational Health Department and the wider multidisciplinary team, to assist the department in achieving its objectives and offering a high-quality service.


Occupational Health works alongside recruitment, making sure that staff are fit to commence their role and provide any advice or support required to help the staff member to fulfil their role.


The aim of the NCA Occupational Health Department is to maintain the health and wellbeing of employees, therefore increasing productivity, reducing sickness absence and assisting in the recruitment and retention of employees.


Main duties of the job:


This will include, but is not limited to, medical report writing, audio typing, diary management, proving support and structure to internal and external educational events, being the first port of call for queries to the Consultant Lead.

You will provide general administration support to the Consultant Lead to ensure timely reports are completed following clinics, manage the bookings and appointments for ill health retirement requests and complex cases, including regular chasing of any external reports.


You will support the department by ensuring all systems are updated on behalf of the team (ESR, SMART etc) and will provide regular updates on structure charts, distribution lists, our internal webpages and provide minute taking duties in meetings across the department.

  • Management referrals and selfreferrals with an Occupational Health Advisor or an Occupational Health Physician
  • Immunisations
  • Ill health retirements
  • Physiotherapy for musculoskeletal conditions affecting staff members in the workplace
  • Counselling service for staff
  • Health surveillance, which includes skin assessments, hand held vibration, audiometry and spirometry.
  • Needlestick injuries that occur during the departments core hour
