    Job summary

    This post is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly pharmacy team in delivering a high quality pharmacy service to our patients.

    The successful candidate will work between clinical services (ward and dispensary). We are a department that is committed to the extended role of technicians and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department.

    Applicants will hold a valid BTEC & NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Clinical Trials experience is desirable.

    The pharmacy team has a proven track record of innovation and delivering excellent patient care as part of the wider MDT. You will be joining a supportive team where the focus is about working hard but having the correct work life balance.     The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Main duties of the job

    1. Provide a medicines management service to an inpatient ward including drug history, and medicines reconciliation.

    2. Responsible for safe, efficient and effective checking of prescriptions dispensed by other members of the pharmacy team in the dispensary and ward based (including Clinical Trials).

    3. Being part of the ward MDT and the wider pharmacy team. This includes being part of the pharmacy weekend and bank holiday rota.

  • NVQ3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science (or equivalent)
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and Medicines Management qualified or relevant demonstrable experience to degree level

  • Significant experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department or equivalent
  • Experience of managing staff. Ability to work as a 'lead' technician

  • Ability to manage the day to day provision of pharmacy service within area and act as a role model and provide advice to junior staff
