    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced spatial planner to join our Healthy Places Team in Public Health. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised person, who can ensure consistent high levels of support. You will join a friendly, dedicated and inclusive team.

    Purpose of Role:

    The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the Public Health strategy, improving
    population health through addressing environmental and wider determinants of
    health, provide public health expertise, advice and support on health improvement, with a focus on public health outcomes, including Health and Wellbeing outcomes for the following workstreams:


    • Healthy Places, natural and built environment

    • Spatial Planning, Health Impact Assessments and Local Plan Reviews

    • Cleaner Air

    • Sustainability

    • Transport, Active Travel and Road Safety

    • Access to Healthy Food

    To build, develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with partner organisations across Hertfordshire's public, private, community and voluntary sectors, in order to devise shared priorities for healthy places, and facilitate the delivery of shared agendas. The role will manage specific projects, working with stakeholders to support the delivery of elements within a larger Healthy Places programme, including ensuring there are strong business cases, robust governance and controls in place, and the identification and realisation of benefits.

    A working knowledge of the Healthy Places Agenda is extremely beneficial.

    You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would draw on and build your organisational skills, your ability to prioritise workloads in a multi-disciplinary context.

    Your previous experience working collaboratively across internal and external teams is essential in this role to achieving goals and objectives.

    You will be leading on local plan reviews and consultations, quality assuring Health Impact Assessments, managing an active and busy inbox as well as working in close partnership with colleagues from HCC Growth and Infrastructure, Sustainable Hertfordshire, Highways and Environment team.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    You will have excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail to support the implementation of the Health in All Policies agenda across Hertfordshire.

    Educated to degree level (Planning or Public Health related field)
    - Experience of working in environmental health and / or planning and development
    - Understanding of Local Government Planning and Public Health systems
    - Understanding of NHS and local government cultures, structures and policies

    Developing and/or delivering training (internal and external).
    - Providing innovative and effective solutions in problem cases
    - Developing and implementing new processes and procedures to deliver efficiencies/ service improvement
    - Preparing detailed reports and consultation responses to support proposed projects
    - Communicates effectively with conviction, adopts an adversarial style where appropriate, able to negotiate
    - Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
    - Experienced in project and stakeholder management
    - Able to work in multi-disciplinary team and on own initiative
    - IT literacy, Competent in the of use of all Microsoft Office Systems.
