    About ISOGenix

    We are an early stage, Oxford University spinout from Prof. Matthew Wood, Dr. Carlo Rinaldi, and Dr. Catheryn Lim's research, currently based in Oxford, UK. Using a proprietary approach, we are developing precision therapies to harness the therapeutic potential of protein isoforms for the treatment of serious diseases with significant unmet medical need.     Responsibilities

    As a research scientist at ISOGenix, you will be at the heart of our ground-breaking gene therapy research. Collaborating with a team of dedicated scientists and experts, you will contribute your expertise to advance our innovative projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Developing effective in vitro molecular assays for transcript and protein isoform validation and characterisation in various cell lines.
    • Production and purification of adeno-associated viral vectors (AAVs) using mammalian cell culture systems (i.e.HEK293) for use in preclinical gene therapy program development.
    • Conducting laboratory analyses of AAVs using SDS-PAGE, qPCR, digital droplet PCR, flow cytometry/ FACS, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, TEM etc.
    • Providing support to new technology and therapy development and innovation programmes.
    • Day-to-day management of own research and administrative activities.
    • Independently analysing and interpreting data, preparing detailed reports, and presenting research findings at internal meetings.

    Qualifications

    To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

    Essential

    • A PhD (or at least a master's degree with experience) in biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and genomics, or related discipline.
    • Experience in molecular biology techniques and laboratory analysis including cloning, gene and protein expression assays, cell culture, SDS-PAGE and flow cytometry.
    • Extensive AAV biology and production experience using HEK293 cells.
    • Experience in the area of genetic therapy including AAV and/or genome editing based therapies.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently within a small dynamic team.
    • Have an organised and methodical approach to implementation of experimental procedures; keep accurate records.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write protocols, reports and publications and present research findings to internal meetings.
    • Experience of working collaboratively within a team and with external collaborators.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality data within deadline-driven workflows.
    • IT skills, data management skills and presentation skills.

    Desirable

    • Drug discovery or drug development experience in an academic, biotech or pharmaceutical company setting.
    • Knowledge/ experience in next generation/ third generation long-read sequencing; experience in human genomics.
