    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high quality of aseptic services.

    You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focus service.

    The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust strives to innovate and improve care to patients. The Trust has recently approved the business case for a new pharmacy aseptic, clinical trials and radiopharmacy facility. The new facility is expected to be in operation mid 2025.

    The prime function of the unit is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards. Our aim is to provide our valued staff with excellent training including Quality Assurance to become skilled, highly competent, and confident in their job roles. We encourage innovative working which includes the development and future proofing of our facilities to meet the growing needs of the service.     We welcome applicants from Secondary care preferably with aseptic experience.

    Main duties of the job

    Be an experienced qualified pharmacy technician, Proven post-qualification experience in aseptic production. Be based within the Aseptic Suite undertaking a broad range of duties within the area of work to include the dispensing and issuing of medicines, including aseptic manipulation and compounding of Parenteral Nutrition for adults and neonates, reconstitution of cytotoxic chemotherapy products ( drugs used in the treatment of cancer ) including cytotoxic clinical trials, monoclonal antibodies, other ad hoc aseptic dispensing, stock control and the final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines. Supervise and co-ordinate the work of Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers, students and support staff. Train Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Officers, students and support staff under the direction and supervision of Senior and Chief Technicians. Work on their own initiative at times under the supervision of Senior and Chief Technicians. Support the work of the unit in the provision of a weekend service, early starts, late nights and bank holiday in the Aseptic Unit. Overall operational accountability rests with the Chief Technician Aseptic Services. Daily operational accountability rests with the Chief / Senior Technician responsible for the area within which the work is being conducted.
