    The Role

    We are seeking a pro-active, qualified accountant to join our finance team in a brand-new role as Finance Manager.

    The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing and developing the financial side of our privately owned, PE backed and fast-growing organisation.

    This role will suit a current Finance Manager working in a data business, big or small, with experience in PE backed and scale up businesses.

    Smart Numbers are a creative communications specialist that provides small businesses with a mix of virtual telephone numbers, call management, website design, digital marketing, broadband, VoIP and office telephone systems.

    We are scaling and are targeting strong growth following PE investment whilst retaining the positive culture that has been the foundation of our success.

    What you will be doing

    Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.

    Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for the monthly preparation and review of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow for the Group, providing narrative to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist the Finance Director in the development of the company's annual budget and forecasts.
    • Conduct financial analysis, identifying key trends and providing strategic insights to the management team which will assist in decision-making.
    • Prepare and deliver insightful financial reports to senior management on a regular basis.
    • Maintain financial models for scenario analysis and sensitivity testing.
    • Act as finance business partner to various departments with an ability to convey financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
    • Prepare year-end statutory accounts file for the Group. Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
    • Implement and maintain effective controls, systems and processes to support the evolving needs of our high-growth business.
    • Supporting the implementation and development of new systems and procedures that improve department efficiency.
    • Support the business with a project to replace the current Sage 50 accounting package with Sage Intacct.
    • Assist the Finance Director with ad hoc M&A due diligence and acquisition integration.

    Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

    • A qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience, preferably within an SME.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
    • Experience with the implementation of accounting systems, specific experience transitioning from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct would be advantageous.
    • Experience and knowledge in accounting standards and principles.
    • Leadership skills with sound collaboration and communication skills.
    • Have produced monthly management packs within a strict reporting timeframe.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
