    Job summary

    The Fracture Clinic is a busy and diverse working environment providing a high-quality service to patients with a variety of both trauma and elective clinics. You will be part of a team of staff working to provide a seamless clinical service and you will need to have a flexible approach and a commitment to working as part of a team.

    The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, able to use their initiative and prioritise their workload, to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner. The ability to work to tight deadlines whilst dealing with frequently changing priorities is also essential.

    The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated, enjoy working in a challenging, busy environment and will have experience of working in a customer focused environment.

    Main duties of the job

    Ability to get on well with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member.

    To be responsible for working with colleagues and managers to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors

    Under guidance, deliver safe patient care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.

    To act as a chaperone for patients attending clinic appointments.

    Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level patient observations and patient personal hygiene, application of simple off the shelf splints and braces, remove plaster casts, record ECG, venepuncture, arranging admission of patients to wards from clinic.

  • GCSE in English & Maths (Grade C and above)
  • Desirable

  • Care Certificate
  • Experience

  • Experience of direct patient care in an acute or outpatient setting
  • Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a casting clinic
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Ability to interact quickly and effectively with patients and service users either face to face and by telephone or email
  • Desirable

  • Ability to work on own initiative but recognises boundaries
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Ability to recognise safeguarding issues with both adult and paediatric patients
  • Desirable

  • Basic knowledge of skeletal anatomy and physiology
