    Associate Structural Engineer£48,000 - £58,000 DoESouth West Norse is an award winning property consultancy delivering high profile, inspiring professional multi-disciplined services to a range of public and private sector clients .

    We undertake both new-build and refurbishment projects of varying size and complexity, resulting in innovative, sustainable and commercially viable delivery.

    We provide expertise across a full range of design and construction management, including Engineering, Architecture and building maintenance and currently have an opportunity for an Associate Structural Engineer to join our Exeter based team.

    It will be your role to drive and deliver works across the discipline, holding responsibility for the technical and commercial management of major projects, as well as providing inspirational leadership for the team.

    You will be expected to assist the relevant department Director managing engineering resources and client needs, ensuring all projects are delivered to meet expectations.


    Duties will include:
    Completing planned work programmes and projects to timeframes and with budget.

    Managing client needs, defining project technical specifications, manage costs, fees and commercial requirement and ensure that projects are delivered to client satisfaction.

    Assisting the relevant director in managing engineering resources across the Structural Engineering team.
    Supporting business development activity to enhance, grow and diversify the engineering capabilities.
    Managing the implementation of best practice in the Structural Engineering team.
    Leading major projects ensuring that they are delivered to the specification.

    Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, drawing and carrying out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment and new building schemes, tendering documents and supervising works to completion including agreeing interim and final accounts.

    Preparing schedules of dilapidations, improvement scheme, drawings and specifications, structural surveys, and insurance reinstatement schemes.
    Responding to emergency requests for action or advice regarding dangerous buildings. Attending and advising on incidents.

    Providing advice to clients in respect of construction and refurbishment projects and actively promote surveying services on a fee-paying basis.


    Our Successful Candidate:


    To ensure the continued delivery of our exceptional services, you will be expected to be able to demonstrate a blend of commercial experience, professional training and industry knowledge highlighted by the following;Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in an Structural Engineering related disciplineProfessional membership of the Institute of Structural Engineers and be working or prepared to work towards Chartered statusHolds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attainConversant with Health and Safety legislation.

    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCADFamiliar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestosWe will provide you access to a number of specialist design tools (including CAD, Revit, Robot & Tekla) to ensure projects are delivered to specification, with your existing knowledge of these or equivalent being essential.
