    Media Relations Director

    The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is looking for an experienced Media Relations Director to join our growing communications and media team.

    It is at the heart of the energy transition and efforts to reach Net Zero, with countries around the world agreeing to Triple Renewables at the recent COP28 climate negotiations in Dubai.

    GWEC is seeking an experienced media expert to join the Communications Team and tell our story across leading news publications and outlets across the world.

    We're looking for someone with an existing network of business, climate and energy sector journalists and editors, but who is also able to innovate and work across a range of digital and social platforms and with a range of stakeholders and spokespersons.

    Knowledge of media outlets across the globe is essential, while previous experience of developing creative story treatments and pitches is desirable.

    GWEC is also a founding partner of the Global Renewables Alliance (multi technology renewable energy advocacy), the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (with Denmark and IRENA) and the initiator of the Ocean Energy Pathway programme.

    GWEC also founded the Women In Wind Leadership programme and is active across the world in promoting gender diversity and parity and campaigning more broadly for a Just Energy Transition.

    We are looking for a motivated individual who is able to lead on media engagement.

    You will be focused on building and developing key media relationships and providing on point messaging and data during key moments of the year.

    You will support GWEC's strategic objectives through targeted messaging and analysis of media coverage.

    You will work with the CEO, Head of Policy and Communications Director to align messaging and prepare press releases and material, and will be knowledgeable and experienced enough to talk to senior journalists both on the record and on background.

    Help build GWECs reputation with key strategic groups and communities
    Drive GWEC's media monitoring and support responsiveness in key policy areas
    Support preparation of communications advisories, briefing materials, press releases, key messaging documents, Q&As, and related supporting materials, including longer-term and ongoing GWEC marketing, public affairs, and other campaigns
    Support GWEC colleagues in media relations

    Work closely with relevant colleagues to ensure timely and professional communications in connection with crises topics, issues management or other GWEC initiatives.

    Have native level fluency in English, and strong interpersonal skills with experience of work collaboration and the ability to deal with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Other languages are a plus.

    Hold a Bachelors Degree in a relevant area
    Have at least five years of experience working in media relations and communications, preferably in energy/climate for an international organisation or company
    Are able to think creatively and turn industry information and data into strong narratives
    Have a broad understanding of the global media landscape, (Tier One, Trade, broadcast), including global platforms and national media in key geographies
    Be well versed with communications tools such as Office, Mailchimp and website CMS
    Understand social media delivery platforms and analytics
