    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the Walsall Adult Community Occupational Therapy Team. We would like to welcome an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join us. Occupational Therapy is valued and well established within our team, with the Team Manager also being an Occupational Therapist.

    Main duties of the job

    To manage a complex caseload of service users with Learning Disabilities, with support from the advanced practitioner

    To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your own work including the management of service users in your care.

    To ensure a high standard of clinical care in line with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and Health and Care Professions Council standards and guidelines for the service users under your management, and support more junior staff to do likewise

    To apply a broad level of understanding of the effect of learning disability, illness and physical disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the service users' social and physical environment

    To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of service users within the Walsall community, and to organise this effectively and with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

    To provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice to service users and their carers, to promote the aims of Occupational Therapy, and to ensure a consistent approach to care

    To undertake comprehensive assessment of service users, using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised treatment plans

    To provide Occupational Therapy interventions (individual or group) using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals. To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and to ensure effective intervention.
