About the role:


Join our Supply Chain Management Apprenticeship Programme based in Newcastle, where you will gain a wide range of hands-on experience in number of Siemens Energy businesses whilst working towards a professional qualification with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

SCM professionals are vital for the efficient functioning and profitability of any organisation. They use their knowledge of procurement to support the wider business to win work and successfully complete projects.

Activities include supplier development & qualification, quotation and tender response evaluation, contract negotiations and order placement, management of live orders and supplier performance reviews.


A Snapshot of Your Day


Part of being an apprentice at Siemens Energy means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey.


As a Procurement Apprentice, you will:

  • Study Commercial Procurement and Supply through a NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship scheme.
  • Work towards a professional qualification with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
  • Undertake workbased training through rotation in several Siemens Energy businesses. Whilst on rotation, you will continue your college education through weekly day release.

Your responsibilities

  • Proactively keep best practice and skills in Supply Chain Management up to date
  • Manage and understand customer issues and complex situations when sometimes need referral or raising for specialist attention.
  • Manage meaningful and complicated situations within your level of authority and make recommendations to enable and deliver change to service or strategy.
  • Find solutions that meet the organisations needs as well as the customer requirements.
  • Lead internal and external customers and understand how their behaviour may require different approaches.
  • Analyse, use and present a range of information to provide supply market insight.

Opportunities for your development

  • Develop a good understanding of the organisation structure and what role each department needs to play in delivering customer service.
  • Develop techniques to analyse, use and present a range of information to provide supplier insight.
  • Become an expert in using written and verbal communication to simplify and provide complex information in a way that supports positive customer outcome in the relevant format.
