    Weare looking for a committed and dynamic ward manager, to provide leadership andclinical direction on the Horizon Ward in Wakefield.

    Thesuccessful candidate will have a passion for person centred care and workingwith people with a learning disability.

    This is an exciting opportunity for Ward Manager tojoin the Horizon inpatient unit on a full-time post / hrs per week.

    We are a well-established ward that provides specialistinpatient support to people with a Learning Disability. This will be an idealrole for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career, enhancetheir management skills and take the ward to forward to achieve an outstandinginpatient service.

    The team consists of a comprehensivemulti-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, LD nurses,occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, and healthcaresupport staff. The Team works together deliver therapeutic assessment andtreatment and to support adults with LD and their families/carers.

    The Trust iscommitted to staff development and in-house training to enable the applicant tofulfil the requirements of the role.

    Main duties of the job

    You will be a highly motivated and conscientious individual, who has the desire to work creatively with people with learning disabilities within an inpatient setting.

    We are looking for someone who takes pride in their role, has a passion for improving systems and ways of working in a collaborative approach. The role will include:

    Leading the operational management and clinical oversight of the Service.

  • Provide day to day management, leadership and line management to the team.
  • Work alongside the senior clinical team to oversee and ensure specialist assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for service users with complex Learning Disabilities with possible mental health conditions.
  • Demonstrate enhanced competence in complex decision making, assessment and the management of clinical needs.
  • Collect and collate data / information effectively for the purpose of audit, research and service performance.
  • Work in partnership with service users, carers and other agencies to ensure effectiveness of outcomes.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Post holder will be responsiblefor the effective day to day delivery of Learning Disabilities Assessment &Treatment ward within the designated team area.

    The post holder will be responsiblefor the day to day management of resources and staff employed by both SWYPFTand integrated partners with agreed permissions framework to act in conjunctionwith other ward managers, professionals, disciplines and partners.

    The post holder will be expected tohave strong clinical and leadership skills and be responsible for ensuring thedelivery of quality forensic mental health services.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    Management and Resources

    The Ward Managerwill manage allocated resources on behalf of the trust and local authority toensure that fundamentals of care are delivered.

    Competencies

    Provide day to daymanagement of all staff within the ward team including sickness and absencemonitoring, conduct and performance etc.

    Ensure that teamresources are deployed appropriately to meet the day to day demands on the wardand wider service.

    Ensure service provisionmeets the individual needs of service users and their carers within Learningand Disability policy, the personalisation, prevention and recovery agenda.

    Ensure that the serviceobserves the legal and philosophical requirements of national legislativeframeworks.

    Monitor the quality andappropriateness of service provision.

    Monitor ward budgets andtake measures to ensure that they remain within agreed establishments, alertingthe budget holder of current or expectedbudget pressures.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • RNLD / RMN / RN Mental Health, or DipSW / CQSW / CSS or OT.
  • Relevant graduate qualification or equivalent.
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent

  • Proven ability of post-basic clinical practice.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience.
