Senior Reporting AccountantLocation:
Preston (2 days in office)
Salary:
Negotiable depending on experience
Reporting into the Chief Accountant, the Senior Reporting Accountant will support the production of consolidated financial statements, half year and annual reports.
You will be responsible for preparation of calculations and papers covering all key accounting judgements as well as provide expert accounting advice to the Group's finance community, keeping up to date with all developments within IFRS and leading the implementation of new standards across the Group.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Support the delivery of halfyear and annual results
- Engaging with the auditors ensuring the provision of quality and timely information
- Prepare calculation and accounting papers for key accounting judgements and significant balances
- Advise on technical aspects of financial disclosures within the Annual Report.
- Prepare technical accounting papers in support of large/unusual transactions
- Prepare responses to developments in IFRS (new standards, interpretations and reviews)
- Lead implementation and roll out of changes in IFRS across the Group, including system developments to accommodate any new requirements
- Review of accounting policies and updating the Group accounting manual
- Providing accounting advice to finance managers within the businesses
- Drafting year end position papers
- Support the Chief Accountant in identifying and implementing process efficiencies and improvements to drive a faster month end close process
- Assist in developing the Group Consolidation package (Cognos) to streamline structures and improve reporting
- Review and reconcile balance sheet, liaise with divisions to ensure accuracy of reporting
- Implement internal controls improvements identified as part of the internal controls review program
- Streamline working papers, calculations and documents preparation, processes
- Various adhoc projects and initiatives
Requirements:
- Strong technical accounting background, practice trained
- Post qualification experience either in practice or in a similar role
- Confident and effective communicator with the ability to build rapport and work with people at all levels
- Effective organisational ability and time management skills are crucial, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Previous experience auditing complex PLCs or working in a PLC group team
- Strong understanding of controls requirements
- Proven experience of improving processes and documentation
- Cognos experience preferrable
- Be highly numerate and analytical
